The action actually reminds me of an ODI Viking. It's really quite small, and only weighs 23ozs, smaller and slimmer than a Glock 36 or a baby Glock and about the same weight. This gun shoots and handles much better than I expected it would based on the info I could find about them. In fact, High Standard shows still has them on their website but no one ever answers the phone and I can't find where they've been building or selling them. The "large frame" Backup, like mine was improved and refined but I think that the damage was done to the reputation by then, plus the company was in a constant state of ownership flux. 380 and I think that one is where the horrid trigger reputation came from (like hemiram's gun). The first ones were single action and kind of iffy, I had one for a while back around 1984. I know the reason behind the design/manufacture of the gun was as a BUG for law enforcement but this later version is much different from the original.
